ICT in Science

ICT, sure it is a familiar term among 21^st century citizens. In this semester, I officially study ICT in Science where it focussed on the application of ICT in teaching and learning process in Science. Technology is widely used and kept going through revolution at the pace where we cannot chase. It can be used as a teaching and learning aid or as an enabler.

In the first place, I thought this is just a mere subject but I was wrong. During the entire course, I was introduced to enormous kind of technology that never crossed my mind before. Some of them are data logger, interactive whiteboard, simulation and modelling and e-portfolio. All of these technologies are absolutely amazing and useful for both teachers and students.

However, no matter how remarkable the technology is, teacher is still a privilege in teaching and learning process. Without a spectacular teacher who can utilize the spectacular technology at the optimal level, technology is just a useless tool.

I am totally startled, how the technology made learning science easy and fun. I always imagine that teaching and learning science is fun but not easy. However, in this course I was taught that they are fun yet easy.

The teacher only needs to do extra efforts in order to attain the easy and fun process of teaching and learning by using technology as an enabler. I sincerely hope that I can apply all the knowledge and skills that I gained from this course later in school. Moreover, I hope that I can be the coffee bean whom will change the plain water. I am eager to bring changes in school and nurture the nature of craving for knowledge in my students. Yeah, sure said is easier than done, but not impossible.
